Barbarossa encapsulates the vibes of old school death metal music, with a more modern approach. Fast tempos, aggressive distorted sounds and tons of blast beats define Barbarossa’s sound.
Founded in 2013, the band has published 4 records, and it’s rapidly growing in the italian underground metal scene. The band started as a classic thrash/death metal act with influences from bands like Bloodbath, Testament, Exodus and similar.
The first Ep “He who walks alone” it’s been published in 2017, which helped the band to get good recognition in the italian underground scene. In 2020 the band recorded and released the first full length album “The weight of void”. The sound evolved, removing some thrash metal influences and adding some black metal.
In 2022 the band released a new EP “ils n’ont pas passè” which consolidated the sound to a more aggressive and technical death metal, while keeping the original character that defined Barbarossa’s sound in the previous works.
In 2024 the band released it’s newest full length album “The Great Carnage” which got the attention of an even bigger audience and got labeled as “one of the most original and aggressive sounding death metal albums in the metal scene” as the sound evolved again towards even more technical songs, faster tempos and with some more black metal influences.
2024 marked also a change in the lineup, as Lorenzo (the original singer) and Davy (guitars) left the band and got replaced by Adriano Pagani (vox) Alex Anschutz (bass) and Andrea Zucchetto (guitar). Barbarossa’s are now continuing to grow, with a new album already in the works.
